Vol. 396 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Corporation Estate Management.

Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

54 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment if he has made any proposals to Dublin Corporation regarding the way in which estate management should be organised; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The management of their dwellings is a function of the local authority. Special funding may be made available under my Department's remedial works scheme to assist authorities in undertaking major refurbishment works to designated estates. Funding is conditional on the putting into place by the authority, in consultation with residents of improved management arrangements, which will achieve worth while and lasting improvements in the living conditions of the residents and protect the substantial investment of public funds in the estates. The detailed arrangements of its estate management are, however, matters for the housing authority.
