Vol. 398 No. 5

Written Answers. - Geraldine Castle, Maynooth.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

48 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if all legal requirements regarding the transfer of the Geraldine Castle at Maynooth, County Kildare from private ownership to the Office of Public Works have been complied with; when the close of the transaction will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The owners of the Geraldine Castle at Maynooth have agreed to transfer their interest in the castle to the Commissioners of Public Works. The legal procedures are at an early stage and it is not possible to say when they might be completed. The castle has been in the guardianship of the Commissioners of Public Works under the National Monuments Act since 1956.
