Ceist:170 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if it is her intention to subplant the existing metalwork syllabus in the junior cycle with the new programme in junior cycle technology.

Circular M16/89 which issued to schools in July 1989 set out the junior certificate subjects and syllabuses which will be examined for the first time in 1992.
The list of subjects appended to the circular included both metalwork and technology as separate and distinct subjects. The position in this regard has not changed.
