Vol. 398 No. 10

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

150 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in reaching a decision on an application for unemployment assistance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Following investigation, a deciding officer disallowed this claim on the grounds that, by failing to furnish details of her means, the applicant failed to show that her means did not exceed the statutory limit.

She appealed against the disallowance on 7 March 1990 and arising from contentions raised by her in support of her appeal, her papers were referred to the social welfare officer to afford her another opportunity to disclose her means. These inquiries by the social welfare officer will be completed as soon as possible and the case will be submitted to an appeals officer for determination.
