35 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the explanation he has received from the Northern Ireland Office for the presence of an army patrol, in direct contact with the community and without police presence at a private house (details supplied) in County Tyrone on Friday, 25 May 1990 at 5.15 p.m.; the explanation he has received for the use of abusive and obscene language, by a member of the patrol, to the householder and two of his sons; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

36 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the explanation he has received from the Northern Ireland Office for the presence of an Ulster Defence Regiment patrol in direct contact with the community and without a police presence at 8.40 p.m. on 4 May 1990 at the Keady-Markethill Crossroads on the Armagh to Newtownhamilton Road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

37 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the explanation he has received from the Northern Ireland Office for the presence of an Ulster Defence Regiment patrol in direct contact with the community and without a police presence at 5.5 p.m. on 19 May 1990 at Patterson's Corner, Coalisland, County Tyrone; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I will take Questions Nos. 35, 36 and 37 together.

I am very grateful to the Deputy for bringing these incidents to my attention. On receipt of the Deputy's questions, I immediately asked my officials to raise these cases in the Anglo-Irish Secretariat in Belfast. I will communicate with the Deputy when a reply has been received.
