Vol. 402 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

30 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Waterford will be paid the refund of excess tax deductions from her pension arrears related to her late husband's income tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax-free allowances for the current tax year, 1990-91 was issued by the inspector of taxes to the taxpayer on 13 November 1990, exempting her from tax for the current tax year.

The inspector has also confirmed with the payers of the taxpayer's pension that this certificate will be put into operation next month, to coincide with the payment of her monthly pension and that all tax due to be refunded will be repaid to her in the December payment.
