Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Salmon Fishing.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

106 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Marine if he accepts, having had contact with local salmon fishermen in Dublin and Dundalk Bay, that the salmon fishermen in Dundalk Bay are using a form of fishing which can neither be described as drift nor draft net fishing due mainly to the physical condition and situation of the said bay; and if he will make a statement on the matter dealing particularly with the way in which it could be possible to amend the legislation/regulations to suit their particular circumstances.

I am aware of the difficulties being experienced by the fishermen in Dundalk Bay and I am having the matter examined by my Department.
