Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

92 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline his plans to decentralise further Government Departments or semi-State bodies; the locations and numbers of jobs in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy may be aware, earlier in the year the Government announced their decision to extend the decentralisation programme, which then covered 12 locations countrywide, by five additional centres — Tullamore, Longford, Kilkenny, Wexford and Cork City.

The time scale for completion of this extended programme and other details, including identification of Government Departments and number of staff to be transferred to each of the additional centres, is at present under consideration.
