Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sale of County Dublin Land.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

101 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Finance if he has been requested by Dublin County Council to sell a plot of land, owned by the Office of Public Works, which is situated between Stone-bridge Road, St. Anne's national school and the new Bray/Shankill by-pass in County Dublin; if he will agree to the sale of land; if his attention has been drawn to the purpose for which the county council wish to buy the land which is to provide a much needed sports facility in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In connection with the proposed road system at Shankill, Dublin County Council sought to acquire lands, owned by the Commissioners of Public Works, which at present are used by University College Dublin for veterinary field station purposes. The commissioners are in communication with the Department of Education and that Department are undertaking consultations with the Higher Education Authority regarding the long term requirements of the field station.

The question of the possible use of portion of the lands for sports facilities has recently been raised and this matter will be taken into account in considering the sale proposals made by the county council.
