Vol. 404 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Water Supply Schemes.

Michael Lowry

Ceist:

168 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for the Environment the present status of proposals to provide a suitable water supply scheme for Templemore, County Tipperary; when it is anticipated that the well will be bored and tested; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A preliminary report for a scheme to provide a new water supply for Templemore is under examination in my Department. I approved a tender for the drilling of production boreholes in October 1990 and it is for Templemore Urban District Council to finalise the contract arrangements for this. A decision on the preliminary report must await a report on the yield of the boreholes.

Ceist:

169 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for the Environment when authorisation will be given to Tipperary North Riding County Council to go to tender for the provision of Thurles regional water supply scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the contract documents for this scheme are with my Department at present, I am unable to give a decision until the county council submit a certificate confirming that the necessary preliminary planning arrangements are in order.
