Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Amenity Facilities Funding.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

290 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment whether there will be an amenity grant scheme disbursing national lottery funds as was the case in 1990; and if so, whether a hall (details supplied) in County Wexford will be considered.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

301 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that an application for national lottery funding by the Bride Rovers GAA Club, Bartlemy, County Cork was first made in 1988 and has not yet been responded to; and if this application will be approved in 1991.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

311 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends making allocations of moneys under the youth and sport schemes this year from proceeds of the national lottery; whether unsuccessful applicants from 1990 will be considered on their original application; and if Castlerahan GAA Club, Bally-jamesduff, County Cavan, an unsuccessful applicant last year, will receive funding this year, having regard to the facilities they are providing for the youth of the area.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

329 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if he will respond positively to the request from Garrymore GAA Club, County Mayo for a grant to undertake work on the boundary fence around its pitch and for landscaping and planting of trees.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 290, 301, 311 and 329 together.

There will be a further amenities/ recreational facilities grant scheme this year, funded from the national lottery surplus.

In the case of applications which were unsuccessful under previous schemes, it will be open to project sponsors to lodge fresh applications under the new scheme. Local authorities will be informed shortly of the arrangements for the scheme.
