Vol. 404 No. 8

Written Answers. - Provision of Road Markings.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

98 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the reasons for the delay in dealing with requests made to the Garda authorities for statutory orders for the provision of double yellow lines as requested by Dublin Corporation in a case (details supplied).

Traffic signs, including roadway markings, are provided on public roads by road authorities at the request of the Garda Commissioner under the provisions of section 95 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the statutory request to provide double lines at the place referred to in the question was issued by them to Dublin Corporation on 21 December 1990 of foot of a communication dated 14 November 1990 from the corporation to the effect that the traffic study group had agreed that such a measure was desirable.
