64 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education if she intends to introduce the redeployment scheme for teachers in community and comprehensive schools, as a matter of urgency, in view of the inability of schools to employ teachers on a permanent whole-time basis where they are warranted in the meantime.
The Programme for Economic and Social Progress, in the context of ensuring the most effective use of available teaching resources, provides for discussions to be held with the interested parties aimed at developing more flexible arrangements under which teachers in any one sector of the post-primary system may be redeployed to schools in any of the three post-primary sectors. The question of a redeployment scheme for teachers in community and comprehensive schools will be considered in that context.
