40 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Justice if he will take immediate steps to improve the working conditions for members of the Garda Síochána operating from Dún Laoghaire Garda station; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Garda Divisional Headquarters building in Dún Laoghaire is in very poor condition and in urgent need of replacement.
Painting works were carried out there in July last year and work is nearing completion on the provision of a prefabricated building which will help to ease the working conditions for the members in the station.
The current position in relation to the provision of a new Garda Divisional Headquarters for Dún Laoghaire was set out in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 147 on 6 February 1991.
