39 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the powers available to the Garda Síochána to deal with the ongoing problem of video piracy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The powers available to the Garda Síochána to enter premises and to search and seize material in connection with offences involving infringements of copyrights, including copyright in video works, are set out in section 27, subsections (4) and (5) of the Copyright Act, 1963, as amended by the Copyright (Amendment) Act, 1987.
