Vol. 408 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Harbour Plan.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

50 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Dún Laoghaire Interim Harbour Board have requested opinions and objections to their proposed plan to be lodged by 28 June 1991; if he will instruct the board to meet the chief objectors and set realistic deadlines for mature and informed discussion in view of the inadequate timescale involved and the insufficient available details; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The draft development plan was launched by the Interim Dún Laoghaire Harbour Board on 29 April 1991 and interested parties are invited to make written submissions to the board by 28 June 1991. This allows a period of two months for the consideration and preparation of submissions.

The board have produced a comprehensive 110 page draft plan. In addition to this the board have mounted a public exhibition which includes considerable detail, including a scale model of the harbour, demonstrating the concepts for the proposed development of the harbour. The exhibition is on display in Dún Laoghaire until 21 June 1991.

I expect the board will give careful consideration to all observations on the draft plan on the basis of the submissions received.
