Ceist:70 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in having a tax rebate made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer lodged a claim for repayment of tax during unemployment, to the Inspector of Taxes, on 14 March 1991.
As the taxpayer and her husband are taxed on an aggregation basis, her claim was forwarded to her husband's tax district, in order that their joint liability for the year, 1990-91, could be reviewed.
A PAYE balancing statement issued to them on 27 May 1991, showing a net overpayment of £492.42. A cheque for this amount, issued on 6 June 1991.
