214 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange for national lottery funding to be given to the organising committee set up to recommission the Presentation College swimming pool in Bray, County Wicklow, which because of building defects, was closed recently; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this swimming pool is made available to the community at large; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
There are no funds available to my Department from which grant assistance could be provided for the Presentation college swimming pool in Bray, County Wicklow.
As the Deputy will be aware responsibility for the national lottery funded capital grant scheme has been transferred to the Department of the Environment. Under these new arrangements grants are allocated by the Minister for the Environment to projects recommended by local authorities which are also responsible for processing applications.
