Vol. 415 No. 1

Written Answers. - Killavullen (Cork) School.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

449 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if he will outline (a) the programme and (b) the progress to-date in relation to the proposed extensions to Killavullen national school, County Cork; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the construction of a general purposes room is being funded to a rate of 50 per cent by a local contribution in order to expedite provision of this; and if, in view of the local goodwill demonstrated to-date, he will sanction the immediate commencement of the remainder of this project.

Tender documents for the proposed extension to Killavullen national school, County Cork, are being prepared by my Department's architectural staff. These will be completed at the earliest possible date when the question of the invitation of tenders will be considered in the light of the available capital.

I am aware of the situation in relation to the provision of a general purposes room by the school authorities on their own initiative. This will be fully borne in mind when the question of the invitation of tenders for the approved extension is being considered by my Department.
