Vol. 415 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mayo Schools.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

70 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if he has any plans to carry out the necessary repairs to a school (details supplied) in County Mayo; and, if not, if he proposes to provide additional class hall space/facilities.

My Department have received an application from the chairperson of the board of management of the school in County Mayo referred to by the Deputy for grant aid for a scheme of improvement works he wishes to carry out. The matter is being considered in consultation with my Department's professional advisers and a decision will be given as early as possible having due regard to the available capital.

Ceist:

71 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if he has any proposals to provide (1) indoor toilets (2) adequate heating and (3) a shelter at a school (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The authorities of the school in County Mayo referred to by the Deputy installed new storage heaters in December 1991. When a certificate of satisfactory completion has been received, payment of the appropriate grant will be made. My Department will make every effort to have the matter attended to with the minimum of delay. The provision of indoor toilets is at present under consideration.

My Department have not received any application for grant in respect of the provision of a shelter.
