112 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the great anxiety in County Clare regarding the delay in approving funding for the geriatric unit at Ennis General Hospital, and when he intends to direct the chief executive officer of the Mid-Western Health Board to open this very necessary facility.
I am aware that the Mid-Western Health Baord have requested additional funding to open the department of medicine of the elderly at Ennis General Hospital. An early meeting between officials of the Mid-Western Health Board and officers of my Department is being arranged to discuss the issues involved. I will inform the Deputy of the outcome of these discussions.
