237 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment if he will extend the disabled person's grant scheme to cover cases where central heating is essential in specified types of disability; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Under the conditions of this scheme, assistance is provided for adaptations to existing accommodation or the provision of additional accommodation or for facilities specifically required to meet the needs of disabled persons. The cost of providing heating within any new accommodation provided for a disabled person may be reckoned as part of the cost of the overall scheme of works. I have no proposals to change the conditions of the scheme.
