Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - Civil Service Recruitment.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

104 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the number of persons who have been placed on the panel for prospective recruitment into the Civil Service who are, (a) able bodied and (b) with a disability; the number of persons which have been recruited off each respective panel to date; and the prospects he envisages for further recruitment for persons with a disability into the Civil Service during the course of the next 12 months.

The Civil Service Commission are currently operating two special panels confined to persons with disabilities for recruitment into the Civil Service as clerical assistant and clerical officer and one open panel for recruitment as clerical assistant. Details of the numbers qualified to be placed on these panels and offered appointment from them are set out below.

The number of disabled persons offered appointment is a minimum number as some persons who qualified for inclusion in the open panel may in fact be disabled. Further disabled persons who have qualified for appointment will be offered appointment during the course of the next 12 months. At least one further competition for people with disabilities will be announced during the same period.
