Vol. 426 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ashbourne (Meath) School.

John Bruton

Ceist:

195 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education when she expects building work on the second level school in Ashbourne, County Meath will commence.

Godfrey Timmins

Ceist:

224 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education if she will allocate funds for the commencement of work at Ashbourne Community School, County Meath; the total cost of the project; the amount of the allocation which will be spent in 1993; and when work on the project will commence.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 195 and 224 together.

The examination of tenders for this project will be finalised when a fire certificate is issued for the proposed building. The final decision on the placing of the contract will depend on the 1993 capital allocation, but, subject to finance being available, it is hoped that work will commence on this project in the near future. The estimated total cost of the project is £3 million. It is not possible, at this stage, to indicate the amount of the allocation which will be spent in 1993.
