Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Naas Dual Carriageway Pedestrian Footbridge.

Mary Harney

Ceist:

130 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the number of accidents at Newlands Cross, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and in particular a recent fatal accident involving a young schoolgirl, he will make the necessary funds available to Dublin County Council for the erection of a pedestrian footbridge across the Naas dual carriageway at this location; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is a matter for Dublin County Council, in the first instance, to develop any proposals which they consider necessary for the improvement of the Newlands Cross junction. My Department recently requested the council to submit their long and short term proposals regarding the junction. Any such proposals received will be given due consideration for road grant funding.
