Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Reserve Defence Force Representative Asociation.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

190 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence if he will provide the Reserve Defence Force Representative Association with the same level of financial and staff assistance, as was provided to RACO and PDFORRA, to conduct its elections to comply with DFR S7.

Primary responsibility for the holding of its elections rests with the Reserve Defence Force Representative Association. Certain facilities, however, in relation to an office, the distribution of mail and literature, a cash grant and logistical support for its elections have been offered to the association and its response is awaited.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

191 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence if he has satisfied himself that the ad hoc committees in place in RDFRA properly represent the members who have joined during 1992; and the steps, if any, he intends to take to ensure that elections are conducted to allow such members to participate.

Defence Force Regulations S7, which formally established the Reserve Defence Force Representative Association, provide that elections, by secret ballot, of representatives at unit/sub-unit, command and national executive level should be held before 2 July 1994. The association is arranging to hold these elections in the coming weeks and I have already offered facilities in this regard to the association.
