Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Confidential Reports.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

192 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence when procedures were amended to allow PDF officers be appraised of the key elements of their confidential reports; and the reason for delaying such a procedure in relation to officers of the FCA; and when it will be introduced.

Since 1988 officers of the Permanent Defence Force have been allowed to see the principal sections of their annual confidential reports — rating, recommendation for promotion and recommendation for overseas service.

Draft proposals which would provide that officers of the Reserve Defence Force be apprised of matters in their confidential reports are currently being formulated. It is intended that the matter will be the subject of consultation with the Reserve Defence Force Representative Association in the near future.
