Vol. 428 No. 5

Written Answers. - Time Share Property Safeguards.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

119 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the steps, if any, he proposes to take to introduce legislation in order to give purchasers of time share properties greater safeguards.

A draft proposal for a Council Directive concerning the protection of the purchasers in contracts relating to the utilisation of property on a timeshare basis is at working group level before the Council of the European Communities.

At a recent Council of Consumer Ministers meeting it was agreed that the draft proposal for a Directive on Time Share should be speedily completed. When the Directive has been adopted by the Council, I will arrange for its transposition in Irish law.
