Vol. 428 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Cavan School.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

232 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the situation which exists at Drung No. 2 Central School, Drung, County Cavan, where children are catered for in prefabricated buildings which need constant repairs to floors and roofs due to leakages after rainfall; if so if she will honour her Department's commitments made in 1989 to build a solid structure to accommodate the children; and if she has made any provision for this.

I am aware of the deficiencies of the prefabricated buildings at Drung No. 2 Central School. The chairman's proposals for the provision of a new two classroom school is under consideration in my Department. Should a building project be sanctioned in this case it will be considered for inclusion in the primary schools' capital programme in due course in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
