Vol. 431 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Dublin School Appointments.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

146 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education if she will approve the appointment of a school secretary and a caretaker to Balrothery national school, Balrothery, Balbriggan, County Dublin.

Under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, funds were provided to expand the provision for caretaking and clerical services, on a phased basis, to all national schools with 100 pupils upwards by way of a supplementary capitation grant.

Phase 1 of this programme was introduced from September 1992 and assisted schools with enrolments of 500 pupils or over which did not already have caretaker and/or clerical services under the existing schemes.

Arrangements are being made at present for the introduction of Phase 2 from next September. However, it is not possible at this stage to say when the school in question will qualify for such assistance.
