Vol. 431 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rural Resettlement.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

48 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a statement on the concept of rural resettlement for urban dwellers; and the resources, if any, he will make available for this concept.

Support for rural resettlement is not something which comes directly within my Department's area of responsibility. However, in 1992, my Department made available a grant of £10,000 to Rural Resettlement Ireland Limited under the scheme of grants for voluntary organisations in the social services area, to assist with their services. An application has been received from the organisation in question under this year's scheme. The applications are being processed at present and as soon as a decision is made the organisation will be notified.
