Vol. 432 No. 8

Written Answers. - Companies Acts Review.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

81 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he has examined the submission of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies, Ireland, in respect of the Companies Act, 1990, in which they make recommendations regarding the types of companies to which section 11 should apply and the position of holders of a fixed charge over property and the expenses of examiners; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that the Minister of State with responsibility for Commerce and Technology has already indicated, in this House and elsewhere, his intention to undertake later this year a review of the Companies Acts, in particular the Companies (Amendment) Act, 1990, which deals with exam-intership. In the context of this review, all matters raised by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies of Ireland in its May 1993 submission, including those referred to by the Deputy, will be considered in detail.
