126 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the publications she grant aided under the block grant paid to a company (details supplied) and of the circulation of these publications; and when they are published.
My Department grant-aids the provision of a series of bi-monthly comics and annuals for school children published by this company. These comics comprise a series of four bi-lingual publications and four all-Irish publications issued monthly during the school year (July and August excepted) and eight parallel annual magazines.
The total amount of grant-aid paid to the company on an annual basis £208,000 which is based on a set amount of grant in respect of each copy of these magazines sold subject to a maximum number of copies.
My Department receives audited figures confirming sales every two months of the school year of 320,000 copies of the bi-lingual magazines and 16,242 of the all-Irish magazines. The figures for the annuals are 160,000 bi-lingual and 7,167 all-Irish.
