Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Ceist:

259 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

While this case has been reviewed fully, the person named has to be deemed ineligible for grants under the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme and debarred from the 1993 scheme. An animal listed on his application form as a cow that had calved on 1 December 1992 was found to be an in-calf heifer at a subsequent on-farm inspection.

Patrick J. Morley

Ceist:

260 Mr. Morley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment of a cattle headage grant will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named has been paid all grants due to her under the 1992 cattle and equines headage and 1992 suckler cow premium schemes. Her 1992 cattle and equines headage scheme grant was restricted because of a limit on the amount payable per forage acre of her holding. She did not apply for grants under any of the 1992 or 1993 special beef premium schemes. Her applications for grants under the 1993 cattle and equines headage and 1993 suckler cow premium schemes are being processed at present and, if found in order, payments will issue as soon as possible.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

261 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if surplus sheep quota will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter with particular reference to his eligibility for subsidy.

The relevant EC Regulations provide for ewe premium quota to be based on the number of ewes on which a producer was paid the premium in 1991 provided that the producer also applied for the premium in 1992.

The person named is not entitled to a quota because he did not apply for the premium in 1991.

He has submitted an application for reserve quota from the national reserve which has been established for allocation to certain categories of producers. A decision on whether or not he is eligible for an allocation of quota from the reserve will be made as soon as all applications received for reserve quota have been processed by my Department.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

262 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a sheep subsidy will be approved in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Payment of the advance of the 1993 ewe premium to the person named was delayed pending approval of the sale of some of his sheep quota. This approval has now been granted and payment was made on 28 September 1993.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

263 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if an additional suckler quota will be allocated from the national reserve to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

My Department has not yet established the criteria for allocating suckler cow quota from the national reserve. When these criteria are announced the person named can then submit a formal application for reserve quota supported by appropriate documentary evidence to my Department at Michael Davitt House, Castlebar.
