Vol. 435 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions Written Answers. - Protection of Trees and Woodlands.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

76 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the present position regarding the subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 68 of 25 May 1993.

The contacts I have encouraged between various interested parties, in line with the commitment contained in the Programme for a Partnership Government to "place particular emphasis on the protection of trees and woodlands especially the remaining oak forest", are at an advanced stage.

I have given every encouragement, and will continue to do so, to those seeking a solution to this issue. I believe that a satisfactory outcome can be achieved, at an early date, provided there is sufficient commitment and goodwill on all sides.
