86 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the opportunities, if any, that will be available under the new community employment programmes in the arts and culture area; and the way in which he will ensure that the community employment programmes support job creation in the arts.
Community-based projects and projects which benefit the public will be eligible for assistance under the new programme community employment. Such projects may be sponsored by public bodies and voluntary organisations. All proposed arts and culture projects which fall within this broad heading will be accommodated under the programme subject, of course, to the overall level of demand. I hope that eligible groups involved in the area of arts and culture will avail themselves of the programme to the maximum extent possible.
