Ceist:123 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the number of vehicles that are registered in Ireland for the years 1926 and 1993.

The estimated total number of mechanically propelled vehicles licensed in 1926 was 42,721. Final figures for the number of vehicles under current licence as at 31 December 1993 are not yet available from all licensing authorities but the provisional total figure is 1,146,268.
