Thank you, a Cheann Comhairle, for giving me the opportunity to make a brief statement. I had intended to make a statement in the course of a reply to Deputy Deasy who had a question down today on developments in Leinster House.
I am pleased to be able to tell the Deputy, and Members of both Houses, that following an initiative taken by me the Government has approved a major development of new accommodation for Leinster House. I am circulating today a brochure which gives an outline of the development proposed by me and approved by the Government. The outline in the brochure will be the subject of widespread consultation with staff, Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas and with other users of Leinster House. With the ongoing improvements within the existing buildings, these new developments will provide a high quality of accommodation for Members and staff.
