Over the past five years some £440,200 has been paid out in grants for the construction of golf courses under the agri-tourism scheme which is part of the operational programme for rural development. Some £286,000 of this funding was provided by the EU with the balance coming from the Exchequer.
Under the EC Leader Programme for Rural Development where the decision making on aid for projects is delegated to local groups, aid amounting to £330,000 has been committed to golf courses. The EU contributed £198,000 of this and the balance came from the Exchequer.
