20 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the plans, if any, he has to introduce legislation dealing with motor and employer liability insurance; if he has such plans, when the legislation will be introduced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Proposals aimed at reducing the very high cost of motor and employer liability insurance in Ireland are at an advanced stage of examination by my Department. Consultations are taking place with relevant interests and expertise and this consultation process must be completed before the proposals can be finalised. It will ultimately be a matter for the Government to decide whether and when legislation should be introduced.
