Vol. 445 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Donegal Road.

Patrick D. Harte

Ceist:

173 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the need to have the regional road from Kerrykeel to Portsalon in County Donegal upgraded; and if he would make a special grant available towards the cost of repairing this road. [1574/94]

Responsibility for the improvement and maintenance of the road concerned is a matter for Donegal County Council using its own resources, supplemented by the discretionary State grants allocated to the council. These grants amount to £4.112 million in 1994.

It is open to the council to consider whether to apply for funding in 1995 for this road under the EU co-financed scheme of specific improvement grants for non-national roads, having regard to the conditions governing the scheme.
