164 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for rejecting the Environmental Impact Study proposed for Dundalk Urban District Council, County Louth, for the purpose of extending their landfill site at North Marsh, Newry Road, Dundalk; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Wexford): Dundalk Urban District Council applied on 21 April 1994 for the Minister's certification for a proposed sanitary landfill site at Newry Road, Dundalk, County Louth, in accordance with Part IV, as amended of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 1990.
Certification of the proposed development was refused on 11 July 1994 because the Minister considered that it would have significant adverse effects on the environment.
