Vol. 449 No. 6

Written Answers. - Work Sharing.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

72 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason provision has not been made for work-sharing as had been promised by the previous Minister for Enterprise and Employment. [4184/95]

The recent budget did provide for significant reductions in PAYE and PRSI on lower earnings and these will be of particular benefit to job sharers and part-time workers. Work is continuing in my Department in relation to further possible measures, including tax and other incentives, to encourage a range of work sharing options and this will be completed as soon as possible.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

73 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment when he proposes to publish and release the study on work-sharing which he received some time ago. [4185/95]

My colleague, the Minister with responsibility for labour affairs, proposes to present the ESRIUCD study on work-sharing to the National Economic and Social Forum for consideration at its plenary meeting to be held on 28 March. It is intended to publish the study at about the same time.
