Ceist:31 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will give details of any meeting he has had with chief executives of commercial semi-State bodies to discuss the key issues of employment. [3779/95]
Written Answers. - Meetings on Employment.
I have not met the chief executive officers of any of the commercial semi-State bodies which come under the aegis of my Department. However, I have met the Chairman of Irish Steel Ltd on 18 January, 23 February and 13 March 1995. I have met the Chairman of Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta (NET) on 18 January 1995. I have met the Chairman of Irish Fertilisers Industries (IFI) on 18 January 1995. All of these meetings involved general discussions in relation to the current position and future prospects of each of these companies. These discussions also covered the issue of employment in these companies and I would like to assure the Deputy that a priority objective of each of these companies is to maintain the maximum amount of sustainable employment.
