Vol. 452 No. 8

Written Answers. - Monkstown (Dublin) Swimming Pool.

David Andrews

Ceist:

144 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the proposal to close the Monkstown swimming pool, the Blue Pool, in County Dublin; the action, if any, he intends to take to ensure that the pool remains open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8645/95]

Preliminary proposals from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for major refurbishment works at the Monkstown swimming pool, estimated to cost £600,000, were received in my Department last March and are being examined. The council has been asked to supply some additional information and a reply is awaited. A decision whether or not to close the pool is a matter entirely for the council.
