Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Mayo Flooding.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

52 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance when a flooding problem (details supplied) will be resolved in the Ballycroy area of County Mayo in view of the fact that an engineer was requested to examine the problem in March 1995. [13135/95]

The Commissioners of Public Works are at present concentrating their available resources in the preparation of flood relief schemes for the nine areas throughout the country which were listed for priority consideration prior to the enactment of the Arterial Drainage (Amendment) Act, 1995. As the Cross East area is not one of the priority areas, it will fall to be considered for inclusion among other flood damaged areas on the priority list which will form the basis of the National Drainage/Flood Relief Programme, which is being prepared. In the meantime, I cannot say when a scheme for the area might be undertaken.
