Ceist:

153 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the progress, if any, in the development of the establishment of an appeals unit in view of his promise in the Farmer's Charter; whether special appeal forms are available at local offices; the number and grades of staff assigned to the unit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The appeals unit for dealing with appeals against decisions under the arable area aid, headage and premia schemes is now fully operational. Appeal forms and explanatory leaflets are available at all of the Department's local offices. Forms are also available directly from the Appeals Unit, Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Hume House, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Telephone (01) 6072385/6072386.

Five staff have been assigned to the unit to date. The grades are as follows:
