Vol. 459 No. 8

Written Answers. - Voluntary Housing Scheme.

Michael Smith

Ceist:

95 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment when he will approve funds for the voluntary housing scheme at Upper Church Terrace. [19093/95]

I take it that the question relates to housing being provided by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Cappanaleigh, Upperchurch, Thurles, County Tipperary. I approved a grant of £88,000 under the voluntary housing capital assistance scheme for this project last August. An instalment of £30,000 of this grant is being paid to Tipperary (NR) County Council this week.

An application for a supplementary grant of £20,000 for the project, arising from the increase in the rate of grant announced in "Social Housing — The Way Ahead", will be considered in the context of the allocation of funds for the scheme in 1996. A decision will be notified to Tipperary (NR) County Council, which is responsible for administering the scheme in the area, in due course.
