215 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the number of redundancy schemes introduced since the beginning of 1988 in relation to each of the semi-State companies under the aegis of his Department; if each scheme was voluntary or involuntary; the number of employees made redundant under each scheme; the cost to the relevant company of each scheme; the number of employees in each company at the end of each year from 1988 to 1995 inclusive; and the number of non-permanent employees working on contract in each of the semi-State companies at the end of each year form 1988 to 1995 inclusive. The information sought on redundancy schemes introduced by each of the semi-State companies under the aegis of my Department since 1988 is given in the following schedule.

The numbers employed year by year in each of the individual State companies in my area of responsibility can be ascertained from the published accounts and reports which are available in the Dáil Library.

Whether staff are employed on a permanent or contract basis is also a day-to-day administrative matter for each State company and one in which I have no function.
