Vol. 461 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disabled Driver's Tax Concession.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

65 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details below) in County Meath who qualified for disabled driver's tax concessions including free motor tax and excise duty refund on petrol since 1988 has had these concessions stopped. [2999/96]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have no record of the refusal of any claim lodged recently by the person concerned under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Taxation Concessions) Regulations, 1994.

Repayment records indicate that the claimant has been in receipt of excise payments under the regulations in respect of fuel used in various motor vehicles since 1988 and that a portion of a claim was disallowed in March 1994. The claimant has also been exempt from payment of road tax on such vehicles. The last fuel claim received in this case was 22 August 1995 in respect of the period ending 31 July 1995. The claim was paid on 30 August 1995.
If the claimant is experiencing difficulties with a current claim, the claimant should contact the Central Repayments office, Coolshannagh, Monaghan (047-83594) with a view to having the issue resolved.
